decades, reflecting its evolution from a small store in
Germany to an influential global brand.
The journey began in 1986 when the brand's original founder, Volker G. Albishausen, visited California for the first time. Impressed by the state's culture and lifestyle, he returned to Germany with a vision. In 1989, he opened his first store in Frankfurt, Germany. By 1991, Albishausen decided to make a significant move to San Diego North County, California, where he officially started the brand Pit Bull West Coast. His passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) began around 1993/1994, a discipline in which he would later earn a 4th-degree black belt.
In the second half of the 1990s The brand's consistent efforts in promoting extreme sports. Including martial arts, BMX, downhill, kite surfing, rugby, motocross, and bike trial, significantly boosted its image. Pit Bull West Coast has established a strong presence in the martial arts community, sponsoring and collaborating with various international organizations like Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), FILA, Shooto. The brand's influence extends to prominent martial arts clubs and organizations across the globe, producing gear for notable entities such as Hilti Jiu-Jitsu, M1-Global, Golden Glory, Tom De Blass Assosiation, Joe Moreira BJJ and many more.
Despite its deep roots in the sports scene, Pit Bull West Coast has not neglected its streetwear origins.
The brand continues to appeal to streetwear enthusiasts and those with a
rebellious spirit.
